The Presiding Bishop has invited the entire Episcopal Church to join together in reading the Gospel of Luke during Lent and the Acts of the Apostles during Eastertide, and is calling it The Good Book Club. Here in the Diocese of WNY, we are joining in for at least the Lenten part of the program, and I would love to see us continue here at Saint Matthias’.
From our Diocesan Newsletter:
“The Diocese of Western New York is joining with Dioceses and congregations throughout the Episcopal Church to read the Gospel of Luke during Lent. This is part of the Good Book Club event. For more information about the Good Book Club visit goodbookclub.org
“We are using the book A Journey with Luke by Marek Zabriskie. The book includes a passage of the Gospel, a reflection and a prayer for each day.
“There will be a gathering at the Diocesan Ministry Center on Thursday March 22 at 6:30 pm to discuss what we’ve read and what we think about what we’ve read. Refreshments will be provided.”
I have ordered ten copies of the book for those who would like them, and they are available on a first come, first served basis for $10 each. It is possible to read along without having the book using this reading list
There will also be a couple of other options available to enhance your Lenten experience. Stay tuned!
